The prices of aerial lifts

Aerial Lifts Buyer's Guide

If you want a dependable aerial lift for regular use, you’ll probably do best to buy new. A used aerial lift is fine if you need to save money and only use it occasionally. For the odd job that requires an aerial lift every so often or for jobs that need different types of lift, you may prefer to rent.

New

  • Boom lifts. A new boom lift with a relatively low lifting height may cost £25,000 upwards. Prices for those with mid-range lifting heights can start at £30,000. Boom lifts with the longest reach will cost from £75,000.
  • Scissor lifts. Scissor lifts with lifting heights of 3 – 6 m (10 – 20 ft) cost around £9,000 - £14,000. Prices of scissor lifts with lifting heights of 8 – 12 m (26 – 40 ft) begin at £18,000.
  • Personnel lifts. A personnel lift with a 6 – 10 m (20 – 33 ft) lifting height will cost from £9,000.

Used

  • Boom lifts. An eight year old telescopic boom with a 22 m (72 ft) lifting height costs around £22,000 - £25,000. An articulating boom of a similar age but with a lifting height of 14 m (46 ft) is about £13,000 - £19,000. You can get a twelve year old articulating boom lift with a lifting height of 10 – 14 m (33 – 46 ft) for £7,000 - £14,000.
  • Scissor lifts. Three year old scissor lifts with lifting heights from 3 to 6m (10 - 20 ft) cost in the region of £5,000 - £8,500. The price of older scissor lifts with lifting heights of 8 – 12 m (26 – 40 ft) cover a wide range of prices from £6,500 - £15,000.
  • Personnel lifts. You can find ten year old personnel lifts with 6 - 10 m (20 - 33 ft) lifting heights for about £2,800 - £4,000. Three year old personnel lifts with similar lifting heights are likely to be £6,000 - £10,000.

Rental
If you rent a 12 m (40 ft) boom lift for a week, you can pay somewhere between £1,000 and £1,200. A 20 m (65 ft) boom will be around the £1,200 - £1,500 mark.

A scissor lift with a lifting height of 8 – 10 m (26 – 33 ft) will cost about £380 - £420 for a week.

A week’s use of a personnel lift is about £180 - £250.

The rental for a single day’s use of an aerial lift is approximately 30 – 50% that of the weekly rate.

Rental figures exclude the cost of transportation, although this will not apply to trailer, van and lorry mounted aerial lifts.
